NDPP Testimonials

I have found the program to be beneficial in many ways.

In Dec. Of 2020, after viewing my routine blood work , my Dr. told me my blood glucose level  indicated I was prediabetic. I don't mind telling you that this frightened me.  I knew I had to do something. When I saw a Facebook post about the Preventing Diabetes program I decided to sign up.

Right away I had a call from [the program coordinator] and very soon after that she delivered all sorts of tools to help me get started and be successful with the program. My kit included a food scale, cookbook, recipes, exercise information, exercise bands, etc.!!!

I learned a great deal about the causes of diabetes and the health impact of having Diabetes. I learned the importance of a low carb/ low sugar diet and how to eat healthy, satisfying meals every day. I lost 20 pounds in the first 6 months of being in the program.

My A1C dropped from 5.9 to 5.6 and my blood glucose level went from 121 to 101. My Dr. is pleased with these improvements as am I.

In the program I also learned the importance of daily exercise in preventing diabetes. I went from being a total couch potato to walking at least 1 hour everyday. I also use cardio and core DVDs 3 times a week for 30 minutes per session. I try to get in at least 10,000 steps each day.

I have learned to use a Fitbit and utilize the My Fitness Pal app each day.

The weekly meetings were extremely helpful.

I enjoyed meeting others on the same journey to better health. It was extremely valuable to hear how others were finding ways to solve problems I shared. I truly wish the weekly meetings could have continued.

Preparing the weekly Action Plans has kept healthy eating and physical exercise at the forefront of my mind every day.

I truly feel blessed and am very grateful to have had the opportunity to be part of this program and I know I am a healthier person because of it.
