Christopher M. Szwagiel, DrPH
The Cayuga County Community Health Network, Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Christopher M. Szwagiel as Executive Director, effective October 9, 2007.
Dr. Szwagiel succeeds James X. Kennedy in the position.
A 1972 graduate of Auburn High School, Dr. Szwagiel holds Masters degrees from Syracuse University and University of North Carolina, and a Doctor of Public Health from University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Szwagiel brings with him experience as a clinical, reference, and research laboratorian and Public Health Director for three (3) county health departments in New York and North Carolina.
Dr. Szwagiel is married to the former Paula C. Hill, MS of Smithfield, North Carolina. They have one son, William, a Senior at Canisius College in Buffalo, New York.
Dr. Szwagiel is active in several church and community groups.
After many years away from the area, Dr. Szwagiel is excited about returning to Central New York and enlisting his education and training to benefit our community.
Program Coordinator
Anne McCarthy
Anne McCarthy joined the Cayuga Community Health Network as Program Coordinator for the Cayuga County Tobacco Free Partnership in April 2004. She is a graduate of Le Moyne College in Syracuse NY, where she earned her BA in Sociology. She has worked in the Human Services field for many years and was the conference coordinator at a local college. Anne is a member of many local coalitions, including the Alcohol and Substance Abuse Subcommittee, the Asthma Coalition, the Children and FamiliesTask Group, and the Cayuga County Healthy Men and Women Partnership. In her spare time, she enjoys mystery novels, hiking, traveling and working in her yard.
Executive Assistant
Suzanne H. Hai
Suzanne Hai joined the Cayuga Community Health Network Staff in 2004. She is the Executive Assistant for the Network and also the Coordinator for the CNY Diabetes Prevention Partnership grant for Cayuga County.
Before joining the Network, Suzanne worked as the Executive Assistant/Office Administrator for TFM Associates, Inc. in Skaneateles, NY. An Auburn native and graduate of the State University of New York College at Buffalo, she earned her BA in Fashion Merchandising. She has worked for many years at Lasca’s Restaurant, a renowned Cayuga County Restaurant.
Suzanne is responsible for the fiscal management and office operations for the Rural Health Network, Cayuga County Tobacco Free Partnership and the Diabetes Prevention Partnership.
She is also the Coordinator/Project Manager of the CNY Diabetes Prevention Partnership-Cayuga County grant program. She works to educate the community on diabetes risk factors and prevention and works to assist people who are “at risk” and/or people with diabetes type II, with resources and information to minimize complications from their disease.
Community Organizations:
Suzanne is an advocate for the Cayuga Community Health Network, the Cayuga County Tobacco Free Partnership, the Cayuga County Healthy Men & Women Partnership, the Diabetes Coalition, Eat Well Play Hard Program and the Human Services Coalition.
She is a member of the Women in Business Network and is presently a participant in the Leadership Cayuga –Cayuga County Chamber of Commerce Class of 2008.
